Kimmel emphasized that he never meant to blame any specific group for the actions of a disturbed individual. "The point I was trying to make was the opposite," he explained.
But here's where it gets controversial... Kimmel also took aim at ABC affiliates who pulled his show off the air, thanking those who supported him, even those who don't like him. He praised figures like Texas Senator Ted Cruz for speaking out against the administration's actions.
"It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, and these individuals deserve recognition for doing so," Kimmel stated.
And this is the part most people miss... ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely after his comments about Kirk's assassination, but the network has now allowed him back on air after "thoughtful conversations" with the host.
Kimmel's remarks about the "MAGA gang" and their attempts to distance themselves from the killer have sparked a heated debate. Trump-appointed FCC Chairman Brendan Carr even accused Kimmel of misleading the public.
The motives of the killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, remain unclear, with authorities stating he grew up in a conservative family but had turned left politically in the last year.
